We do not permit students to bring their own motorcycles for use in the New Rider Course at this time, but we do permit student personal bikes in the second level course, the Intermediate Rider Licensing Course
2-½ days at the dealership, and a 5 hour eCourse (online interactive lecture) that you can do from home.
Minimum of 16 years of age
Valid driver's license
Ability to ride and balance a (two wheeled) bicycle
Your course starts the moment you sign up! Your confirmation email will include a link to instructions for the 5 hour eCourse.
The eCourse is completed online, and may be done at home and at your own pace. We ask that you complete this before coming to your class orientation.
The orientation is 3 hours, here at the dealership, and is usually held the Tuesday evening before the range weekend.
Orientation includes group learning exercises on the dealer floor, a classroom review, and a turn on the Jumpstart experience, a stationary motorcycle that students may start and ride on day one!
The range is two full days of riding, usually held on the Saturday and Sunday after orientation, but some courses are run on Sunday and Monday. Check your schedule when booking to choose what works best for you.
Coaches work with students to learn to ride safely through hands-on skill practice. Each exercise is a building block that leads to the next one.
There are eight exercises on day one. Day two is six exercises followed by a skill evaluation.
There are breaks throughout the day after every other exercise. Class breaks for a one hour lunch about four hours into each day.
Yes. All sessions need to be attended on time in order to stay in the course, and all exercises need to be completed in full.
The three-hour orientation is mandatory.
While orientations are usually scheduled on the Tuesday evening before, some classes offer a Friday evening orientation. Check the schedule to choose what's right for you

At the time of this posting, tuition is set at $375.00 for the New Rider Course.
No! New riders are welcomed!
All new students need to be able to ride and balance a bicycle.
YES! Along with potential for insurance discounts, riders can also avoid trouble with law enforcement for riding without a proper license (endorsement).
While in the course, students enjoy a 10% discount on everything in the dealership, motorcycles excluded.
Everyone can always benefit from being safer on the road.
The class is serious fun.
Intermediate Riders who already have their endorsements should consider our Intermediate Rider Licensing Course - scheduled here.
YES, mostly. Simply put, the MSF completion card + State Written exam = Class M License
After successfully completing the New Rider Course, you will be handed an MSF (Motorcycle Safety Foundation) completion card, signed by your Rider Coach.
Next, make an appointment with the AR state police to take the written exam. After passing the written exam, you may show your completion card to the AR State Police to get your "M" endorsement (motorcycle license).
You may take the state written exam any time before or after your New Rider Course, but you have only 90 days to show your MSF completion card to the AR state police, so do not delay! The MSF completion card is also good for various discounts, including most major motorcycle insurance carriers. Do not alter it, laminate it, or discard it.
No, you do not need to take the state exam prior to class.
We encourage new riders to take our New Rider Course before attempting the state written exam, as the material covered in our class will well prepare new riders for the state test.
Riders taking the state test will save a trip if they already have their New Rider Course MSF completion card on hand, that way they do not have to come back a second time.
For the orientation, all you need to bring with you is proof that you completed the eCourse. You may also email the completion certificate in advance to ridingacademy@rockcityhd.com
On the range, we provide the bike, you bring your own gear. You will need to bring:
- A DOT-approved helmet (Preferably one that is also full faced)
- Eye protection (separate and above what your helmet includes)
- Long sleeved shirt or jacket (Dressing in layers would mean that you bring both!)
- Long pants, such as jeans or leather (No thin material pants; NO YOGA PANTS)
- Over-the-ankle boots or shoes (preferably with sturdy construction and thick material - NO canvas shoes such as Chuck Taylors)
- Full fingered gloves (moto specific gloves preferred)
- Refillable water bottle - we have lake Maumelle filtered and on tap.
We provide the training bike for you! It will either be a specially equipped Harley-Davidson Street 500 (XG500) or an X350RA
Bike selection is worked out in person on day one of the range.
Yes. We offer the BRC2 class, listed as "Intermediate Rider Licensing Course", and bookable here.
Our skills do not age like fine wine! Being a life-long learner is more than simply mastering a skill or a technique, it's about having the commitment to always learning what's new, and consistently improving your riding skills.
If you need to dust the rust off, or if you just want to grab some extra coaching, this could be the next step in your motorcycle journey.
